In Memoriam, Tom Padilla, Argonne National Laboratory

Thomas Anthony Padilla, Tom to his countless friends and colleagues, passed away on August 27, 2020. Stephen Streiffer, Director of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne, said of Tom, “As the Human Resources Manager deployed to the Photon Sciences directorate, he was a critical partner, thoughtful advisor, and gregarious member of our community. He had the very best quality for his job: He cared deeply and truly for all the people whose paths he crossed. We will all miss him terribly. I’m sure I speak for everyone one at the APS and Argonne in sending our deepest condolences to his wife, Lisa; his sons, Jason, Zachary, and Ian; his daughter, Alexandra; and all his family.”

Tom was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School and the College of Santa Fe. He spent his career working in human resources for the State of New Mexico, the City of Santa Fe, Arizona State University, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Argonne National Laboratory. He also directed governmental relations in the Third Congressional District of New Mexico and the 1984 campaign activities for United States Senator Pete Domenici.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
