In R&D, Super X-rays Mark Many Spots

“The Advanced Photon Source (APS) at the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory has been kept busy of late.”

That’s the first sentence of R&D Magazine’s recent overview of research results from the APS. The article highlights “a new ultrafast synchrotron x-ray full-field phase contrast imaging technique and used it to reveal instantaneous velocity and internal structure of optically dense sprays such as those found in fuel injectors for internal combustion engines, and… the structure and behavior of one of the most common proteins in our bodies … resolved at a level of detail never before seen.”
