Lesson Module A-2: Comprehensive Floor Coordinator Tasks - pg 3

Operations-Related Tasks
Administering Configuration Control Policy
  • Define configuration parameters
    • Implement tagging and identification of components: labyrinths, beam transport, shutter, masks, collimators, and all components that are part of the Radiation Shielding System (RSS).
    • Post a list of RSS devices in the display case, known as the Configuration Control Component List (CCCL).
  • Understand CCWP Procedure
    • Propose or accept CCWP requests
    • Understand the conditions of the work permit.
    • Obtain or verify the approval authority required.
    • Follow up on work being done, follow larger projects from start to end as Project Coordinator.
    • Close out the CCWP, obtain close out approvals if needed.
    • Arrange for HP type C survey if needed.
    • Give Global Online and APS enable.
APS Enable
  • Evaluate and approve beamline readiness.
  • Initiate APS Enable allowing beam into the beamline.
Postings
  • Understand the posting requirements and responsibilities for a beamline:CAA/BOA/ESAF, Configuration Control Work Permit (yellow sheet), Shutter Authorization (green sheet), Administrative restriction (pink sheet), CCCL/RSS devices list.
  • Enter correct date/time data for the start/end of experiments, especially proprietary experiments, in the online ESAF entry form.
Global Online
  • Putting a beamline Global Online
    • Understand Global Online/Offline Procedure
    • Approvals:PSS system manager, ACIS system manager, Floor Coordinator
  • Taking a Beamline Offline
    • Understand Global On Line/Off Line Procedure
    • Approvals:Floor Coordinator
Shielding Verifications
  • Set up beam scatter devices, ozone equipment, and flight tubes.
  • Measure beamstops using Ray Trace information.
  • Assist in arranging for BCRRT, Beamline Commissioning Readiness Review.
  • Prepare beamline configuration controls:Configuration Control Components List (CCCL), RSS tagging of components
  • Post commissioning documents, Commissioning Activity Approval (CAA) form or ESAF.
  • Assist Configuration Control System Manager (CCSM), Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), and Health Physics (HP) technicians: participation and oversight.
  • Help to set up verification hardware and equipment.
  • Verify FE-EPS readiness. Help Beamline Personnel with BL-EPS readiness.
  • Verify ID positioning if shielding verification is done on an ID beamline.
  • Provide Global Online.
  • Administer APS Enable.
Trouble Reports
  • File trouble report for recurring or unusual warnings, trips, or faults, or any faults that require investigation.
  • Follow up on actions related to the trouble report.
Calls to users and support personnel
  • Know and understand which users need to be called for each situation.
  • Know when and how to call support personnel, HP system specialists, and emergency personnel.
Beamline Steering Requests
  • Understand how to access current beam position information.
  • Understand how to compare current to past beam position data.
  • Understand policy on steering limits.
  • Understand how beamline personnel may issue their own orbit corrections using EPICS.
  • Initiate orbit corrections using the APS Steering Request Webpage or verbally with the Control Room operators.
