Personal Safety Systems (PSS) Information |
A snapshot of the current PSS status of all beamlines can be viewed from the PSS Overall Status page. To view this page, from the APS Storage Ring Display, under the PSS section, left click the blue "PSS" button to get the below menu. Scroll to "Main" and click. This will produce the below PSS Overall Status page. From this page, each beamline's Chain A, Chain B, Chain C (if Generation 3 PSS), and DIW (if present) status can be viewed. A green button next to each chain status indicates that the chain is okay while a red button indicates a chain is faulted. The button next to each sector and beamline indicates whether the beamline is global online or offline. Further investigation of a PSS problem, such as a Chain A or Chain B fault can be viewed, by putting the mouse arrow on the blue menu box next to the Beamline being investigated and clicking. Clicking on the menu button gives the option of checking the Station Overview, PSS Inputs and Outputs, Chain A and B PLC Statuses, and the Faults, Trips and Warning stacks of the PSS. Chain A button produces the below Chain A page and clicking on the Chain B button produces the below Chain B page. 17-ID was the beamline used in this example. The 17-ID Fault Stack for Chain A lists 2 total faults, 386 and 32, which can be seen are latched due to the boxes to the left of each fault description that are filled in with colors unique to their type of fault. The 17-ID Chain B status page shows a "Communication Link Down" due to the red indicator box next to this description. These are examples of some problems that may occur during a Floor Coordinator shift. These can be indicators of problems a beamline is experiencing and that further help is needed from a systems expert(s). Another page that can be viewed from either the APS Storage Ring Display PSS blue box or from the PSS Overall Status page, is a beamline's deionized water (DIW). This page indicates problems with the water system and/or PSS. A red box around one of below beamline flow setpoints can indicate low water flow. This is again an indicator of problems a beamline is experiencing and that further help is needed from a systems expert(s). |
