Workshop: X-Ray Echo Spectroscopy

Workshop: X-Ray Echo Spectroscopy - Opportunities and Feasibility
Date: September 8-10, 2016
Location: Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory.

About the Workshop

The organizers invite you to attend a two day workshop "X-Ray Echo Spectroscopy - Opportunities and Feasibility", which is planned for September 9-10, 2016, at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory, USA. The focus of the workshop will be to explore the scientific potential, technical feasibility of the recently proposed X-ray Echo Spectroscopy, and to discuss a path for its R&D and realization.

The x-ray echo spectroscopy is an inelastic x-ray scattering (IXS) technique, a space-domain counterpart of neutron spin-echo. The underlying principle of the x-ray echo spectroscopy is imaging of IXS spectra, which does not require x-ray monochromtization. Due to this, the echo-type IXS spectrometers have a potential to simultaneously provide dramatically increased signal strength, reduced measurement times, and higher resolution compared to the traditional scanning-IXS-spectrometers.

The workshop will include:

  • Invited talks (Sept. 9th-10th)
  • Poster presentations during the welcome reception (Sept. 8th)
  • Discussion session at the end of the meeting (Sept. 10th)

The workshop is supported by the Advanced Photon Source.
