Lesson Module A-11: The Configuration Control Work Permit - pg 5

Closing Configuration Control Work Permits
  • When work has been completed, the RSSE or RE arranges for the appropriate reviews and signatures as previously determined on the CCWP. They can get approvals for validations complete by either using an ICMS workflow or by getting verbal or handwritten sign-offs on the CCWP.
  • After completion of the reviews, the FC may reverse the previous sequence (i.e., remove “Notice” tag from the RSS tag or re-tag the affected components, and put the beamline global online if need be).
  • At this point APS enable may also be restored, if a Health Physics (HP) type C survey is not needed. If a HP survey is needed, APS enable may not be restored until HP is present at the beamline for the survey. The FCs "Procedure for Posting a Beamline or Front End Configuration Control Work Permit and UES Type C Survey Info Form" helps the FC determine the need for HP type C surveys for each CCWP issued. If there is a question on whether work performed needs a HP type C survey, the APS RSO-HP should be contacted.
  • The CCWP is completed after “Step 6 – Close Out” portion is filled out with the required information.
  • The completed permit must then be copied for the RSSE/RE for ICMS “Close-Out” status, hard copy filed in the FC office, and an entry made in the shift log that the beam line has been restored to operational status. The task is now considered complete.
