Welcome to the 1-ID beamline at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) located at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). This beamline is operated by the Materials Physics & Engineering Group (MPE) of the APS X-ray Science Division (XSD). 1-ID provides brilliant, high-energy x-ray beams which combine high penetration power with spatio-temporal resolution. Approximately 80% of the available 1-ID beamtime is accessible to users through the General User program. Techniques available at the two end-stations (1-ID-C and 1-ID-E) are listed below. These are frequently conducted in-situ, with environments provided by the APS or brought by users.
The 1-ID beamline has been operational since the start of the APS in the mid 1990s, and has been used to develop a variety of synchrotron techniques and instrumentation, many of which are now in use at other APS beamlines. Since ~2010 it has been more dedicated to developing and delivering the high-energy x-ray techniques listed above. |
