Invited colloquium at National Taiwan University

Being the most prestigious institution of higher education in the Taiwan area, National Taiwan University (NTU) has 11 colleges, with 54 departments and 103 graduate institutes, plus four university-level research centers. The NTU Physics Department is among the most well established departments in the country. It covers all main branches of modern physics. Prof. Minn-Tsong Lin heads a worldwide-recognized program on nanomagnetism. From July 31 to August 4, 2012, he hosted Volker Rose for a research visit and a colloquium at NTU. In his talk entitled “Toward Microscopy with Direct Electronic and Chemical Contrast at the Atomic Level”, Volker Rose reported on the prospects of combining synchrotron radiation with scanning tunneling microscopy.

Funding for the research visit was provided by the Department of Physics, National Taiwan University as well as from the Taiwan National Science Council.
