Biography:

Xianbo Shi has many years of experience working in Synchrotron science and instrumentation. His Ph.D work focused on the study of supercritical fluids using VUV spectroscopy. Xianbo then worked as a postdoc at the Brookhaven National Laboratory for two years, which includes the optical design of the x-ray powder diffraction beamline at NSLS-II.  In 2012, Xianbo joined ESRF as a junior scientist, working on the design of high-luminosity X-ray emission spectrometers for ultra-fast X-ray emission spectroscopy. Xianbo joined the optics group at APS in April 2013. His research focuses on physical optics modeling and simulation, and optical beamline design in support of a broad range of the optics group R&D activities and the APS upgrade. He is an export on beam coheence and wavefront measurement techniques. He also has considerable experience in crysal optics, spectrometer design and focusin optics simulation.
