Biography:
Interests:
Alan Kastengren received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. For the past eight years, he has used the Advanced Photon Source to study the dynamics of fuel sprays and injection for automotive, air-breathing propulsion, and rocket applications with a wide range of x-ray diagnostics, including x-ray radiography, fluorescence, phase-contrast imaging, and scattering.
Using x-ray diagnostics to study complex single phase and multiphase fluid flows, particularly those found in combustion systems.
