Instructions for Contractors

Please find below key information for contractors for their access to APS/Argonne.
Step 1: Contractor Safety Orientation (CSO) must be valid.

This training is valid for 1 year.

  1. The contractor must either watch the video or read the PDF document found in Box at https://anl.app.box.com/s/da96xkxgepgbd8thouafddb2268rw2d0
  2. Once the training has been taken, open the CSO sign in sheet.doc in the Box folder and follow the link in the document to submit your Contractor Safety Orientation (CSO) Completion Record.

Step 2: Request a dosimeter.

The APS Experiment Hall floor is a radiation protection area. If you will be on the Experiment Hall Floor at APS, you must have a dosimeter. Requests for dosimeters must be submitted 72 hours (3 business days) in advance.

To request a dosimeter, follow these steps in order:

  1. Complete the Dosimeter Initialization form. This form will trigger an automated e-mail to be sent to you that includes a link and an attachment.
  2. Open the link and enter your host/sponsor’s e-mail. This must be an Argonne e-mail. If your host/sponsor is a CAT beamline staff member or if you do not know your host’s e-mail, please use vanni@anl.gov.
  3. Complete the training for ESH738 “General Employee Radiological Training” (GERT) course which includes graded questions to evaluate your understanding of the material.
  4. Once the course is complete, click the “I acknowledge….” button.
  5. Then click the “Dosimeter Registration Form” button and fully complete the online form. Click Submit when done.
  6. Lastly, the automated e-mail sent to you (see #1) includes an attachment: page 2 of the ANL-141 form. Complete this page and upload it to the encrypted, secure link provided in the e-mail.
