“Is X-ray microscopy with sub-nm resolution possible?” In a seminar presented at Brookhaven National Laboratory Volker Rose suggested that this might indeed be a feasible objective. However, it requires an unconventional approach. Instead of using sophisticated optics for focusing a primary x-ray beam, the combination of synchrotron radiation with scanning tunneling microscopy can potentially do the job. The seminar was followed by lively and fruitful discussions between the researchers from both DOE sister laboratories. |
