Argonne's Integrated Imaging Initiative (I3) provides an interdisciplinary bridge across Argonne's imaging capabilities and communities. The initiative brings together expertise and capabilities in instrument development, data analysis, simulation & modeling, and visualization from across the laboratory in order to create and manipulate materials to solve many the world's most pressing challenges, particularly in energy. On February 9, 2015, Nozomi Shirato presented the newest advances in synchrotron x-ray scanning tunneling microscopy (SX-STM) and its potential to provide new insights into materials by combining the strength of synchrotron radiation and scanning probe microscopy. This novel technique broadens the imaging capabilities at Argonne. |
