Meeting with Vice President of Science from Aix Marseille University

Aix-Marseille University
is one of the youngest universities in France. It was established on January 1, 2012, replacing the University of Provence, the Mediterranean and Paul Cézanne. It is also the largest by the number of students, its staff and its budget. From April 27-30, Prof Didier Tonneau invited Volker Rose for a research visit to the Center of Interdisciplinary Nanoscience in Marseille (CINaM). Prof Tonneau and his team work on the collection of x-ray fluorescence radiation by a scanning probe microscope. This approach shares some similarities with the SXSTM project. During his stay Dr Rose presented a lecture on Synchrotron X-ray Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. Opportunities for collaborative efforts between Aix Marseille University and Argonne were discussed in a meeting with Denis Bertin, Vice President of Science.
