Beamtime at sector 26 of the Advanced Photon Source and the Center for Nanoscale Materials can offer numerous surprises. Many of them are concerned with unexplored science or complicated instrumentation. However, sometimes it can even be more astonishing. During the beamtime in December, Santa made a special surprise visit to the SX-STM experiment. This APS tradition, initiated by Robert Gordon 11 years ago, is a heartwarming thrust of motivation, particularly after long nights of beamtime.
