Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science workshop

On September 26-28, 2013, Alan Alda, The Kavli Foundation, and the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science presented an innovative workshop designed to help scientists more effectively engage reporters, philanthropists, policymakers and the public. As host of the PBS program Scientific American Frontiers, Alan Alda interviewed 700 scientists around the world. Now as a founding member of the Alda Center at Stony Brook University, he is helping scientists learn communicating efficiently with the public. Hosted by the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP) at the University of Chicago, this limited enrollment workshop provided exercises and instructions to help scientists become better communicators. Environmental scientist Scott Collis and physicist Volker Rose were the two participants nominated by Argonne National Laboratory for Track 2 of the workshop.
