Abstract:
The ESRF upgrade programme phase II, known as the EBS (Extremely Brilliant Source), has been operating in the status of user service since Aug. 25, 2020, after the construction and commissioning of the accelerator complex and beamlines finished. EBS is the pioneer of high energy 4th generation synchrotron radiation light source with the well-known HMBA lattice, which brings the change of the design concept from accelerator physics to some key techniques. The on-schedule and on-budget of the project construction, and quickly-reaching the design parameters, showed the reliability, flexibility and robustness of the EBS machine.
This presentation will try to focus on the commissioning of the accelerator and its transition to the user operation, summarizing the critical problems we met, and foreseeing the possible improvements in the near future.
