Matej sent a message to Ernest Williams on this topic, cc:ing some others including me. I think nobody noticed that the message never got out on tech-talk. I have not tried build 1278, but Ernest said it worked for him.

Hi,
Try this patch...
I've applied the patch to the latest version. JAR and src are available at:
http://users.cosylab.com/~msekoranja/vdct/
Mike Zelazny found another issue with VDCT and the info field.
If we copy a record containing the info field to another record, the info field is also missing.
That is the info field does not survive a copy operation in VDCT. Can you address this one as well?
I've implemented support for this.
==============================================================================
The next step for us would be to include full support for the info field in VDCT.
What kind of effort would that be? I will try and find the funding for that. :)
Depends what you want. Do you want undo or not? How complex UI it is? :)
But from head would say something like one week of work.
Matej

Cosylab has upgraded VDCT, starting with v2.6, so that the info field
is kept after resaving a VDCT file, using VDCT, that has info fields
included.
However, I have empirical evidence that this is not the case for VDCT
version 2.6.1274. This is the latest version according to the Cosylab
page.

The tag I add is
info( autosaveFields_pass0, "VAL")
Then I start VDCT and make a change to an unrelated record. When
saved, the info() tag is absent. I've tried several variation on the
quoting, but this has no effect. I see nothing printed to the console
and no log message appear.
Does this work for anyone?
Coincidence!
We just found out the very same facts last week.
This also applies to the 3.0 beta version on SourceForge [1], which
actually feels more like pre-alpha.
