Hello TechTalk,

We are standardizing EPICS (3.14.12.1) interface to GigE Vision & GeniCam standards compliant devices, mainly detectors, cameras, and other devices too as part of the areaDetector (1.8) module.

The goal is to find a suitable SDK that support Linux (CentOS 6.3) & Windows 32/64 bit versions, thus, minimize the effort integrating new devices and improve cross compatibility.

We are looking currently into these SDK’s:

1-      eBUS SDK 3.0 by Pleroa Technologies, http://www.pleora.com/our-products/ebus-sdk

2-      Universal HALCON GigEVision interface, http://www.mvtec.com/halcon/download/documentation/image-acquisition-11/hAcqGigEVision.html

3-      AVT PvAPI SDK, from Allied Vision Technologies, http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/emea/products/software/avt-pvapi-sdk.html

Has anyone used the above listed SDK’s? What are your experiences?

I have noticed that we have people in the community who used, eBUS vision SDK (legacy & not supported anymore), Aravis library (only on Linux), and JAI SDK (only on Windows), how about support, ease of integration, documentation, reliability and performance?

Appreciate very much any tips and hints.
