Aha,
Interesting! I've just found out we have ordered the LKCO, and we are going to get it in a couple of weeks, cool. However, from what I can see on their web-site it is not IEC 61850 comliant. And its' sensing head is not flexible (a stiff square frame to mount on huge busbars).
Is there any one who can explain me, what does IEC 61850 give to a controls engineer? The NXCT representative said they can equipt their sensor with a Profibus/Ethernet module. And this is everything he knows on the topic. Do you think it's better to use ADC together with the sensor's analog output or Profibus/Ethernet may come in handy?
Paul, concerning your point-to-point fiber optic links. Do you lose accuracy (magnitude and time shift) after such conversions (ADC - fiber - DAC)? 0.1% at 150kAmps is 150A. Is the 0.1% crucial to your experiments?
You also mentioned redHawk. Theoretically, you could try EPICS on this real-time Linux, right? What do you use instead of EPICS then? Thanks for your answers. -- Best regards, Pavel Maslov, MS Controls Engineer at Pulsed power Lab Efremov Institute for Electro-Physical Apparatus St. Petersburg, Russia Mobile: +7 (951) 672 22 19 Landline: +7 (812) 461 01 01
