CNM 10th Anniversary Symposium

Argonne National Laboratory’s Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM), a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) user facility (https://www.anl.gov/cnm), held a successful 10th Anniversary Symposium on October 27, 2017.

Current and former users, including many APS users, along with Argonne scientists and senior executives, celebrated 10 years of groundbreaking scientific discoveries made possible by the CNM facility. A timeline of accomplishments from the last decade is available online.

The symposium included a kickoff event in which U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, 11th District of Illinois, talked about the national importance of science. Pat Dehmer, retired DOE Office of Science Deputy Director for Science Programs; Paul Kearns, Argonne Laboratory Director; and Supratik Guha, CNM Director, spoke about CNM’s history and the unique capabilities available to scientists.

The CNM has been pleased to have contributed to numerous scientific endeavors within the joint APS/CNM user community, and looks forward to many more years of scientific discovery with the APS and its users.

The CNM holds calls-for-proposals on the same schedule as the APS; see https://www.anl.gov/cnm/call-for-proposals for more details about the CNM user program.
