Hi,
The pmacAsynMotor driver doesn't know about the motor record UEIP or URIP fields, as these are just internal to the motor record. But the driver does set the 'encoder present' bit in the MSTA field, allowing the use of UEIP to switch between REP and RMP for the position readback.
We have the same problem with soft limits. We get around it in the same way (widening the limits, or setting them both to zero - which disables the soft limits).
