Why don't you try? ;-)
I never tried changing it inside a record, but frequently do it through
database processing or the m/edm GUI. (I do this mostly for debugging
purpose)
Of course when you change it, you need to do it according to the/your
menuScan.dbd file.
Also you can do with dbLoadRecord if it is only a 1 time setting.
