At the SSC there was never a very serious consideration of an alternative
RTOS with respect to the VxWorks/EPICS relationship.  We had a few psos & Lynx
systems but never ported EPICS to them.

There was, however, a comparison of several RTOS's with the results submitted 
in a paper to the 1991 PAC.  Needless to say the results are a bit old, but 
the paper is available from the SSC's www server.
