Meeting with Vice President of Science from Aix Marseille University focuses on new scientific opportunities

Aix-Marseille University is one of the youngest universities in France. It was established on January 1, 2012, replacing the University of Provence, the Mediterranean and Paul C├ęzanne. It is also the largest by the number of students, its staff and its budget. From April 27-30, Prof Didier Tonneau invited Volker Rose for a research visit to the Center of Interdisciplinary Nanoscience in Marseille (CINaM). Prof Tonneau and his team work on the collection of x-ray fluorescence radiation by a scanning probe microscope. This approach shares some similarities with the SXSTM project. During his stay Dr Rose presented a lecture on Synchrotron X-ray Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. Opportunities for collaborative efforts between Aix Marseille University and Argonne were discussed in a meeting with Denis Bertin, Vice President of Science.
