Postdoctoral researcher Nozomi Shirato is newest addition to the team
Nozomi Shirato became a member of the SXSPM group at Argonne National Laboratory in November 2012. He majored physics in B.A. and completed Ph.D. in materials science at University of Tennessee. During his Ph.D. program, he worked on fabricating oxide/metal nanomaterials using nanosecond pulsed laser. Especially, developing functional oxide nanostructures for sensor applications and studying structure-property relations of nanomagnets were major focuses. Current primary research interest is the development of synchrotron x-ray scanning tunneling microscopy (SXSTM) to explore atomic scale condensed matter physics. Besides, he is interested in investigating new materials, such as multiferroic, complex oxide and graphitic materials.
