CAT Chat Minutes

Operations Update, Mark Beno

Problem with IOC reboot. Step which needed to be taken before the reboot were not done.

Vacuum faults -- RF cavity.

97.8% - Scheduled Beamtime

87 hours Meantime between faults.

There is a problem with birds flying around on the experimental floor. We are trying to trap the birds. To this end, more traps are being purchased. We are also trying to keep the rollup doors closed as much as possible and assure that both doors are not opened at the same time. If you see birds, please let John McLean know where. Also, please don't leave food sitting around.

Safety, Tom Barkalow

Tom wants to thank everyone. DD's went around for a couple of hours. Sectors were very clean -- people have done a good job of cleaning up.

Gas Yards, Kevin Beyer

Overall people have been doing a lot better.

8 cages

  • Bottles not chained (most were caged up).
  • Bottles w/o caps.
  • Ordering stuff we already have.
  • Making sure empties are removed.
  • Storage of combustible materials inside gas yard.
  • Build up of empties
Individually not a problem -- but collectively they become one. We are holding on to flammable gases a lot longer than we need to. Kevin is planning to speak to the owners of these bottles about disposal. He would like to purge the gas yards of unused gas bottles.
