Issues that require action and/or follow-up

1. Why was the storage ring not operational over the weekend (Dec. 14-15, 1996)?
There were many problems, but the major one was related to the triple-stop, which isolates the synchrotron from the rest of the injector system. This stop has now been temporarily fixed and will require serious attention during the next shut-down in February 1997.

2. Will the 75 mA limit for the stored current be increased during the next run in January 1997?
All efforts will be made to reach 100 mA during the next run. The vacuum in the rf system needs to improve (a problem caused by the replacement of a Kystron) to inject higher currents. This may happen gradually as the system gets baked during the next run.

The January 1997 schedule (1997-1) is on the Web. We are glad that the major work on Shielding Verification is behind us and only four shifts have been dedicated to this effort in the 1997-1 run.

Wishing you all Merry Christmas and have a wonderful holidays. See you all in 1997.
